After winning the 2014-15 Premier League title in dominant fashion, Chelsea are in a rut, sitting 14th on the table seven games in. Their UEFA Champion League campaign isn’t going any better, coming off a 2-1 loss midweek to FC Porto.

And star striker Diego Costa is still serving a suspension for violent conduct in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Arsenal.

In six games Jose Mourinho has never lost to Southampton, and the controversial manager will be eager to keep that record intact.

Southampton come to Stamford Bridge off the back of two big wins.

After progressing in the League Cup with an emphatic 6-nil win over Milton Keynes Dons, Virgil van Dijk, Dusan Tadic and Sadio Mane found the net to lead the Saints to a 3-1 win over Swansea.

Mane has found his shooting boots, scoring three times in his last two games.

The last time Chelsea and Southampton faced off was in March, when Costa gave Chelsea an early lead before Tadic equalised shortly after in a 1-all draw.

The last two times Chelsea and Southampton have faced off the game has ended 1-all, with all goals being scored in the first half.

Prediction
Southampton have been on fire in front of goal, and Chelsea seem to struggle scoring without key man Costa.

Chelsea 1-1 Southampton
