The Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) will be hard to pick with a handful of horses a legitimate chance in this one. Join The Roar for commentary and late mail before the race start time of 4:30pm AEDT.
Akavouron is my pick in this one. He raced well fresh against Disposition before disappointing last start, has a huge weight swing here on Disposition and may cause the upset at $26.
Disposition just couldn’t get to Stratum Star last start and goes up half a kilo on last start. Third up is unbeaten so expect something here at $4.80 as the race favourite.
Stratum Star will find it hard to beat Disposition this time around with the weight going up 2.5kg on last start, but will be right in this at $7.50.
Lucky Hussler hasn’t quite been on the form he showed last preparation where he won the William Reid. Hard to see him winning at the weights. Is a $5 chance for those willing.
Hi World back from WFA is a big plus where he was seventh in that great Underwood race gets the 4.5kg drop from last start, has a good record at this distance and is a huge chance at $15.
Kenjorwood beat Jacquinot Bay in a great race last start, is he up to this class? $15 seems a fair quote.
Jacquinot Bay is severely underrated in this race at $41 considering he drops a massive 5.5kg on last start. Put him right in the mix here winning half of his 12 starts over this distance.
Abidewithme the last one to watch here, she beat Set Square a few starts back before disappointing in the Rupert Clarke. Maybe a swing in the weights will help? I still think $11 is a little short.
Hopfgarten and Strawberry Boy should be put in multiples.
Brent Ford selections
1. Akavouron 2. Hi World 3. Jacquinot Bay 4. Disposition

Not sure what Waller has in stall for Flamingo Star going forward (maybe the Emirates?) but will definitely be following him. Full credit to the winner after finding trouble in the run

Lucky Hussler overcame adversity there. Flamingo Star was 5th, Abidewithme, Jacquinot Bay, Strawberry Boy, Leebaz, Hopfgarten finished off in that order behind Flamingo Star. Lucky Hussler was massively inconvenienced and still got in. Wow that was impressive.

Credit to Darren Weir who hasn't had this horse long but has turned him into a multiple Group 1 winner.

Just off the track record, wow they went good.

That was a superb ride from Glen Boss, it's Disposition second and Stratum Star home for third, there was a bunch of runners behind but it looks like Ninth Legion might have nabbed fourth.

Strawberry Boy, Kenjorwood, Jaquinot Bay, Moonovermanhatten, Stratum Star, Ninth Legion, Leebaz, the pace is just about to heat up. Disposition is coming as is Lucky Hussler, But it's Lucky Hussler who on the outside will win it from either Disposition or Stratum Star.

We are off and an even dispatch, Stratum Star and Moonovermanhattan will press on as will Strawberry Boy who goes to the lead. He leads Kenjorwood and Jacquinot Bay.

Great value all round here. $4.80 for Disposition, $5.50 for Lucky Hussler, $8's for Stratum Star, then double figures the rest, if you can find a winner good luck!

Stratum Star looks a beauty and is my pick of the yard, this race has been the target of Hopfgarten who gets a bit of love in the markets.

Kenjorwood as tough as they come and you could make a case for him, Flamingo Star an ex-factor?

Really good betting race this Toorak and the Unlucky Lucky Hussler is the first one, he has the 58 but looks okay on relative weights, Stratum Star won the Rupert Clarke, he rises but he is a genuine horse. Leebaz has been okay with many better, possibly third up he could sneak them at the mile, Strawberry Boy and Cassidy combine and they might have a chance? Puccini poor Melham needs to turn him around, Disposition looks an absolute peach I must say!
