Mark Hunt is the main Australian attraction as he looks to best Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva in their rematch at UFC 193. Join The Roar from 2:00pm AEDT for live commentary.

The first time Mark Hunt and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva met in December 2013 was a colossal battle of heavyweight proportions. As appropriate as a draw may have been for that battle, I’m sure both fighters and the MMA world desire a real result.

#8 ranked heavyweight Mark Hunt is a different machine, part human, part beast. A perpetual fan favourite, especially in his adopted Australia, the Super-Samoan is allergic to boring fights. Hunt either brutally beats his opponent, they brutally beat him or they both get brutally beaten.

Bottom line, when he enters the octagon it’s brutal beautiful violence. It’s been a rough time for Hunt of late, with two violent and dramatic losses in his past outings. Regardless, Hunt has had a lot of downs in his career, don’t expect him to be too bothered by the past.

Hunt’s opponent, #11 ranked Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva, is a formidable opponent. Wins over some of the biggest names in the sport – Emelianenko, Browne, Overeem, Arlovski – truly show the freakish abilities of the Brazilian. Fortunately for Hunt, those accolades came three years and three devastating knockouts ago.

While Bigfoot is coming off a solid win over Australian Soa Palelei, his chin has significantly weakened over recent fights. This will be an entertaining and bloody fight, but when rocks (Hunt’s fists) meet a glass house (Bigfoot’s jaw), the result is a foregone conclusion.

Prediction: Hunt by walk-off KO, Round 2.

Brutal and brilliant finish from Mark Hunt. As I mentioned in my preview, Hunt has strong fists and Silva has a weak jaw. Great result for Mark Hunt on a big stage in his adopted home. Will always be the crown jewel of Australia/New Zealand combat scene!

ROUND 1 They meet in the centre and touch them up. Hunt first to engage with a leg kick. A feeling out process for the first minute of this clash, Hunt pressing forward. Solid body kick from Silva. Huge slap from a leg kick from Hunt, serious power. A kick to the body this time, another solid strike. Bigfoot lands his own leg kick as he is backed up against the cage with some good cage cutting from Hunt. HUNT WITH THE KO. He lands a massive right hand behind the ear of Silva and finishes him off with a couple of strikes on the ground. Excellent finish. It was a grazing blow, but with that kind of power it’s all you need. OFFICIAL RESULT Mark Hunt def. Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva by TKO - Round 1, 3:41.
