A woman has accused wayward AFL star Dustin Martin of threatening to stab her in the face with a chopstick.

The Richmond midfielder has apologised for the Saturday night incident and admitted he was drunk.

He was eventually asked to leave the Mr Miyagi restaurant on Chapel St.

The woman, identified only as Tracy, said Martin became angry when she asked him to quieten down.

“I noticed a rather inebriated Dustin Martin sitting at the bar, drinking shots, in and out of the bathroom,” she said.

“He reacted extremely angrily – very, very agitated.

“He began swearing at me, standing over me physically.

“It was extremely intimidating.

“He held a chopstick above my head and threatened to stab me in the face.”

She said Martin’s mood did not improve when it became clear she would take the matter further.

“He said `are you going to dob on me?’ and I said `well, I will be calling the club on Monday’,” she said.

“He reacted by slamming his hand next to my head into the wall.

“At that point (it) was obviously extremely terrifying.”

Richmond will decide later this week what action to take against Martin.

“This is certainly a bit of a hiccup, something that he’s not happy about and neither are we,” said Tigers football manager Daniel Richardson.

Richmond have cautioned Martin previously about his social life.

Three years ago, they also sacked Daniel Connors and banned Martin for two games after the pair missed a training session.

On Monday, they released a statement confirming Martin had apologised to Tracy and restaurant management.

“Regrettably, I was intoxicated and that in itself is completely unacceptable,” Martin said.

“I do however take responsibility for my behaviour and I am deeply embarrassed.

“If anything I have said or done has caused anyone to feel threatened then that is totally inappropriate.”

It is understood Martin had been at the Stereosonic music festival before the restaurant incident.
