Another game, another loss. The 2015-16 campaign has been a forgettable one thus far for last year’s champions, Chelsea.

Sixteen games played and Chelsea finds themselves in somewhat unfamiliar territory sitting in 16th position, one point above the relegation zone.

Almost any other team in the same position would be panicking and many might have made a managerial change already. Can Jose Mourinho turn things around?

In recent weeks Mourinho has spoken glowingly about the support he has received from the Chelsea fans.

Some of the fan-base does appear divided on whether a change is needed but Mourinho still appears to have the support of owner Roman Abramovich. Whether the loss to Leicester has changed things remains to be seen.

A novice manager would certainly have been given his marching orders in a similar position, but it is impossible to not have faith in Jose Mourinho when you look at his managerial record at all clubs he has been involved.

At Chelsea, Porto, Inter Milan and Real Madrid has has a sensational record. Various domestic titles, domestic cups, and Champions League successes. Between 2003 and 2012 Mourinho did not go through any season without at least one trophy being won.

Where has it gone wrong for Chelsea? Every expert seems to have an opinion. Diego Costa is not scoring goals, Cesc Fabregas is out of form, there are injuries and lack of confidence, letting Petr Cech leave the club was a mistake, the issues with club doctor Eva Carneiro – and Mourinho has lost the dressing room. Perhaps it is a combination of some of these or all of the above and more.

What has possibly helped take a very small bit of pressure off Mourinho is Chelsea is still involved in the Champions League, although being drawn against PSG in the last 16 will be a difficult assignment.

The only way to keep the wolves from the door is to start winning games. A fixture against Sunderland awaits and it will not be an easy game, no game is in the Premier League.

It is amazing to think it was only last season Chelsea were the Premier League Champions. Mourinho knows he is under pressure, and his media performances show that.

Mourinho has not been afraid to put the blame on his players, and he did so again after the Leicester defeat. Many teams react differently to public ridicule and blame and it may galvanise the squad, or it could make the situation worse.

But all you can do is look at the overall record. If anyone can turn it around, the ‘Special One’ can.
