The voting period for this year’s Allan Border Medal is between January 16, 2015 and January 7, 2016. And it’s not just the AB Medal which will be awarded; there’s also a host of others like the Belinda Clark award for the best women’s cricketer, Test Player of the Year, ODI Player of the Year, Domestic Player of the Year and the Bradman Young Player of the Year award up for grabs.

Smith, Warner, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood are some of those who could be in line for the Test Player of the Year award, while the competition for the ODI Cricketer of the Year award is a lot tougher with Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch in the mix.

While Meg Lanning is a favourite to scoop the Belinda Clark award, some of those who could surprise include Captain allrounder Ellyse Perry, bowler Rene Farrell and allrounder Jess Jonassen.

Adam Voges’ sterling domestic performances saw him earn a Test cap while Michael Klinger’s performances in the T20 format across the world should have him as a favourite to win the Domestic Player of the Year award.

Legends Wally Grout and Jeff Thomson will also be inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.

The previous winners of the Allan Border Medal, which was first awarded in 2000, include Glenn McGrath, Steve Waugh, Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, Mitchell Johnson and Steven Smith.

Smith also won the Test Player of the Year and the ODI Player of the Year award in 2015, while Glenn Maxwell was the T20I Cricketer of the Year last year.

You can follow the live blog of this Allan Border Medal Night from 7pm (AEDT) on Wednesday and post your comments in the section below.

They need to look at the voting process here. Smithy probably overall. I thought Voges had a chance as Test player. Starc definitely one-dayers and Meg deserved the women's prize. How about Ussie most underrated. Anyway, these awards nights seem dated, good occasion for WAGs to look good and that's fine, but now that we hopefully take women's cricket seriously, well. Know I'm contradicting myself but maybe there's another way of celebrating the season. Well done with your coverage Suneer.

Far out, Thommo's thank you speech is absolutely hilarious, although a little cringeworthy

Glenn McGrath and which other bowler has won a medal on the Allan Border medal night. How did Starc miss out?

Well that was... unexpected. I suppose Warner would have caught up a lot during the Test matches thus summer.

Yep, the time-frames are different, and I am quite sure the method of calculation is different too. Probably messrs Duckworth, Lewis and Stern are needed here.

The Allan Border Medal is up next and whoa, the winner is David Warner! Yep, you read that right, not Steven Smith but Warner who scoops it for himself. Earlier today, Warner had tipped Smith to win the award.

Quite sure Warner has nudged Smith to the second position by only a whisker. Because in the voting period, Smith scored 1286 runs at 71.44, while Warner made 1334 at 60.63.

Ok, sure he deserved it I suppose, probably means we are going to have him take home the AB medal too. The NZ test series really changed things, bit weird given smith is ICC player but different time frames I suppose.

We are now on to inducting the two players into the Hall of Fame. Wicket-keeper batsman Wally Grout, who played in 51 Tests and the 'really' fast bowler Jeff Thomson.
