The Detroit Pistons look to have turned a corner in the last week winning some very important games, but it will be a whole new level of form required when they go on the road to play the San Antonio Spurs.

Join The Roar for live scores from 12pm midday (AEDT).

The Spurs are edging closer and closer to becoming the second team in the Western Conference to mathematically book their place in the play-offs. Despite all the attention being sent the way of the Golden State Warriors and with good reason, the Spurs now hold a record of 50 and 9.

In fact, the Spurs are only a single win away now and miraculously, are only four games behind the Golden State Warriors.

Coming into this match, the Spurs have had an eight-game road trip, all be it either side of the All-Stars break. Still, winning seven of those eight games, will leave them in good stead moving forward.

Their last match saw a dominating performance against the Houston Rockets, as they took a 10 point win after being outscored by nine in the final quarter. Kawhi Leonard was the key in that match, scoring 27 points while LaMarcus Aldridge chipping in with 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, for the Pistons they are clinging to the final provisional playoff spot in the East, sitting eighth place. The standings out east though are an absolute logjam, with fifth through to tenth place only being separated by two games.

That means essentially, just a single loss could be the difference between making the playoffs, and not making it. For the Pistons, a game like this, one they aren’t supposed to win could prove all the difference come the end of the regular season.

The last few games have been very positive for the Pistons. Coming off five straight losses, and staring down an imposing run which should have brought more loses, they managed to turn the tide and have now won four in-a-row.

Two of those wins in particular, against the top two teams in the east – the Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors in their last meeting have been brilliant for the club, as they attempt to move up the standing.

What makes it even more convincing, is the way they won those games. The Cavaliers was an eight-point win on the road while the Raptors was a 13 point win.

This will be the second and final game this season between the clubs, with the Spurs taking the first meeting by 10 on the road.

Prediction
The Spurs should get the job done here, despite the Pistons recent form.

Spurs by 7.
