New Orleans Pelicans vs San Antonio Spurs: NBA live scores

The New Orleans Pelicans’ hopes of playing in the post-season are fading fast and it won’t get much easier for them when they host the San Antonio Spurs. Join The Roar for live scores from 12pm midday (AEDT).

The Pelicans sit 12th place in the Western Conference, with a record of 23 wins and 36 losses.

Six games behind the final provisional play-off spot, which currently belongs to the Houston Rockets, and with only 23 games left in their season, it is nearing crunch time for New Orleans.

Their theory has to be simple: win a majority of their matches between now and the end of the season, or don’t play in the finals.

Based on their ladder position, overall record and recent form you would simply assume it isn’t going to happen. Enter Anthony Davis.

The young big man is one of the best in the game, and has a huge role to play every time the Pelicans step on the court. Averaging almost 24 points per game, and typically pulling down a whole bunch of replays, Davis is such an important cog in the system.

While Jrue Holidays averages almost six assists per game, turnovers have done New Orleans in all season, and unless they can turn that around then they will continue to lose.

The Spurs meanwhile, yesterday became only the second team to book their spot in the finals. Following on from the Warriors just a week ago, the Spurs elevated their record to such a level as that it is impossible for them to fall out of the eight.

The men from San Antonio have won six straight.

The teams have played twice this season, with the home team winning on each occasion, although the Spurs had a more convincing win.

Prediction
It is hard to see the Pelicans matching it with the Spurs, even if Tim Duncan has a big game.

Spurs by 7.
