The West Indies have a chance to confirm their place in the semi-finals of the World T20 tonight, but need to take a win over South Africa to do so. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting at 1am AEDT.

So far the West Indies have two wins from two matches at the World T20 having taken victories in the first half of the Super 10 stage against England – winning by six wickets with 11 balls to spare – and against Sri Lanka – winning by seven wickets with 10 balls to spare.

They are a virtual certainty to qualify for the semi-finals due to have the highest net run rate in the pool and also a match against minnows Afghanistan in hand, but they can take a clean sweep of the pool and qualify early for the semi-finals if they trump the Proteas tonight.

South Africa have split their ledger so far in this tournament with one win and one loss. As things stand, they’re sitting just outside the top two, but have a game in hand over second-placed England (and a much better net run rate).

However what will be concerning for them is that their only win so far has come against Afghanistan, who they comfortably beat by 37 runs earlier in the tournament.

They lost their first-up match to England despite setting a huge total of 229 to chase, run down by their opponents with only two balls left in the final over.

That means they absolutely must win one of their remaining matches against Sri Lanka or the West Indies to have any chance of making the semi-finals, and ideally will be hoping to win both of them.

Lose tonight and they will give England a golden opportunity to virtually secure a semi-finals spot tomorrow in their match against Sri Lanka.
