The Cleveland Cavaliers will look to put off-court drama behind them when they take on the Houston Rockets, who are under pressure to make the playoffs. Join The Roar for live scores from 11am (AEDT).

Kyrie Irving has had his private life thrown into the social domain over the last few days, with his relationship with singer Kehlani said to have come to an end after allegations she cheated on him with rapper Party Next Door.

This could work one of two ways: Irving may either play the best game of his life, or quite potentially the worst.

The whole event has been played out on social media, and as yet there has been no reponse from Irving.

It has become even more important Irving stands up tonight as well, with Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue announcing he will be resting LeBron James. Iman Shumpert will replace him in the starting line-up with an absolutely monster role to play.

With James out, it is time for Kevin Love to improve on recent performances as well. He needs to control the paint for Cleveland and make things easier for the likes of Irving.

With a frustrating loss against the Brooklyn Nets this week, and only a handful of games to go until the playoffs get under way, Cleveland need to find form in a hurry.

Houston, on the other hand, have lost four of their last five matches and are less than comfortable, sitting eighth place in the Western Conference.

They currently have a record of 36 wins and 38 losses, and with only eight games left in their season each game is becoming more and more important. This is especially so when you consider they are one game behind the Utah Jazz and equal with the Dallas Mavericks, only ahead due to their season series which Houston lead.

James Harden is the key for the Rockets, and he will likely be moved to defend Irving. That match up will go a long way to deciding the game, and Harden needs to stick to his season averages – 28 points per game and seven assists – if Houston are to have a chance.

Prediction
Cleveland will get the job done at home, with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love turning in big performances.

Cavaliers by 9.
