The Golden State Warriors have mounted a massive comeback victory with some impressive shooting in the fourth quarter to claim victory and push the Western Conference Finals to Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Warriors struggled to maintain pace with the Thunder for much of the game, but a massive shooting performance from Klay Thompson, who ended up with 41 points, including 11 of 18 from behind the arc would keep them close before Stephen Curry – who finished with 29 himself – took over down the stretch and delivered them to the victory.

The Warriors would outscore the Thunder 33-18 during the final quarter, and most of that deficit was in the final few minutes as the Warriors went on a 18-5 run during the final five minutes of the ball game.

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook simply couldn’t find the basket as the Warriors defence sprung to life, and it paved the way for Curry and Thompson to run the floor and do what they do best – set each other up for wide open three point shots.

With the likes of Andre Igoudala, Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes all fitting the mould of a fast running game, it was impossible for the Thunder to do anything about it.

The Thunder controlled most of the game well though, and will be absolutely kicking themselves with the final five minutes. Kevin Durant and Russel Westbrook were again the key men for a Thunder outfit that was clicking for the most part – but backed up brilliantly inside by Serge Ibaka and Steven Adams.

While Ibaka ended up with 13 points and nine rebounds, he posed a constant threat inside the paint and had to be tightly monitored by a Warriors defence that seemed to be badly lacking any cohesion for much of the game. That allowed the kick outs and good ball movement that allowed the Thunders outside men to score plenty of points.

At the end of the day though, if you can’t control Thompson and Curry runs like that are bound to happen and it simply doesn’t matter how many points the lead is – it will evaporate in a matter of minutes.

Game 7 of the series will be at the Oracle Arena on Tuesday morning, and it is hard to see the Thunder poaching it from a Warriors team who will be pumped up at home.

Oklahoma City Thunder – 101
Golden State Warriors – 108
