Canadian star Milos Raonic faces a tough test in the French Open fourth round against competitive Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas. Join The Roar for live scores from 7pm AEST.

Raonic starts a warm favourite tonight against Ramos-Vinolas but the Spaniard may be worth a punt given that the clay surface of Roland Garros acts as a key equaliser.

Like most Spaniards, Ramos-Vinolas is a dogged competitor, particularly on clay and will push Raonic all the way.

While Raonic certainly possesses the bigger serve and forehand, Ramos-Vinolas’ movement and ability to compete well should serve him nicely against the Canadian.

The pair have only met once previously and that was in a Davis Cup tie where Raonic secured a tough four set victory, and another tight contest should be expected this time round.

If Ramos-Vinolas wishes to cause the upset, he must remain patient against the Raonic serve. The Canadian possesses one of the fastest serves on the ATP tour and is known for regularly building up a high ace count.

In short, the Spaniard needs to turn tonight’s contest into a war of attrition and struggle. If tonight’s match however turns into a battle of power and strength, Raonic will win.

On any other surface, Raonic would be deemed a strong favourite but the clay surface does provide Ramos-Vinolas with a realistic chance of causing the upset.

Although it may take a career best performance from the world No.55, one expects the Spaniard to push himself all the way en route to a tight 5 set victory.
