In a battle between two top-10 seeds, the number eight seed (Bacsinszky) and number nine seed (Williams) will be looking to book their place in the Quarter Finals with a win tonight.
Having not played each other for nigh on two years, things have changed dramatically since that last match-up. Bacsinszky had barely broken into the top 50 players in the world while Venus was firmly entrenched in the top 20.
Williams hasn’t had the easiest of times getting to this point in the tournament, apart from the second round match-up she has been pushed nearly all the way.
Bacsinszky, on the other hand. has made light work of every opponent thus far and has rarely looked troubled. Every aspect of her game has looked to be clicking at just the right time.
Looking to go one step further than last year, Bacsinszky should be full of confidence ahead of tonight’s match-up.
Prediction
While she hasn’t really taken down any big name players up to this point, Williams will test Bacsinszky, but the eighth seed has everything going for her and should prove too much for Williams.
