Michael Gordon joins Roosters for 2017

By News / Wire

The Sydney Roosters have signed Parramatta fullback Michael Gordon on a one-year deal, commencing next NRL season.

Gordon, 32, who joined the Eels in 2016 from Cronulla, will add plenty of experience to Trent Robinson’s squad.

“Michael will also be a terrific mentor as we continue to develop our younger backs, and were pleased to have secured his services,” Roosters chief John Lee said on Wednesday.

The goalkicking veteran is fifth on the NRL pointscorers’ list behind Jarrod Croker (138) with 96 points.

It’s not clear if Gordon will be used at fullback for the Roosters or whether he’ll play on the wing and help the club’s young No.1 Latrell Mitchell at the back.

The Roosters will be Gordon’s fourth club after making his debut for Penrith in 2006 before shifting to Cronulla in 2013.

This is like when Sticky put the broom through the Eels, except this time it's all the good players who are going. (Except Croc).

So now he is playing the rest of the season for a team with no hope before going to a different club next year... that will be a real test of character and interesting to see if he puts his body on the line week in and week out..... Mind you, he will be playing 26 rounds next year at a team with no hope as well...
