The Stormers have literally nothing to lose or gain from this match with it being completely impossible that the result will alter their finals position.

They’re automatically in the top four give they’ll finish on top of the Africa 2 conference, and among the top four they cannot possibly rise above the Lions or Hurricanes and cannot possibly drop below the Brumbies.

Of course, there are always less tangible benefits from winning and a big one would be to build form and also a bit of pride.

This is a season where the bulk of the teams finishing in the wildcard spots have records equal to or better than the sides that will ultimately make up the top four.

At the moment with a game in hand the Stormers have less competition points banked than any of the three New Zealand sides to qualify for wildcards, though they can get ahead of the Crusaders, draw level with the Chiefs and be just a point behind the Highlanders if they get a bonus point win here today.

And that should be an achieveable task against a woeful Kings outfit that has won only a handful of games this year and is destined to finish the season as, by a comfortable margin, the worst team in South Africa.

Prediction
While the Stormers have been the better of these two sides in past meetings, it’s not been by big margins and they may be inclined to take it easy today knowing it won’t affect the final standings.

Stormers by 12.
