The crucial cogs of AFL's Round 7: Which players need to be the difference makers?
We’re taking a look at one player from each team that needs to make a difference this week, starting with the ANZAC Day games.
There is word coming out that Bradley Hill would like to go home to play with Fremantle, and with his brother.
As a Hawks supporter it was always a chance that this was going to happen and I wish him the best.
Now it comes down to what the Hawks want or will accept for him. In the paper today there was suggestion for the Dockers third round pick. To me that is too much and a pick around 8-13 pick is more around what I think he is worth.
One option is a trade of lower picks, with a player swap included. The other option is to get another club involved in the deal being made.
Below are the options I would love to see but I am unsure if they could happen.
Option 1: Bradley Hill and Hawks’ Round 1 pick traded to Dockers for Dockers’ first round pick.
Option 2: Dockers’ Round 1 pick to Swans, Tom Mitchell and Swans’ Round 1 pick to Hawks. Bradley Hill, Hawks’ and Swans’ picks to Dockers.
Option 3: Bradley Hill and Hawks’ second round pick for a Fremantle player in the age range of 21–24 with a minimum of 50 games’ experience, along with a Dockers’ second round pick like Hayden Crozier or Thomas Sheridan.
Option 4: GWS trade McCarthy and their first round pick to the Hawks for the Hawks’ first and second round picks. The Hawks then trade McCarthy and Hill to Dockers for their first round pick.
Option 5: Fremantle trades its first round pick with Collingwood for their first and second round draft picks. Hawks then trade Hill and their Round 1 pick to the Dockers for the Dockers’ first round pick received from Collingwood.
Option 2 is the best, but as a lot of others have said it all comes down to what Fremantle believe Hill is worth to them.
Otherwise the Hawks could well try and trade with the Eagles if they can’t get the deal done with the Dockers, provided the priority is for Hill to get back to Perth.
