As the beginning of a new European season draws closer, more transfer rumours pop up.

Already, some of Europe’s elite have made a host of signings, with some stellar names being bought including Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United), Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid), and Mario Götze (Dortmund), all capped off by Gonzalo Higuain’s 75 million pound move to Juventus – the third highest transfer fee ever paid.

With the transfer merry-go-round well under way and some tantalising deals in the works, here is a look at the potential moves that could happen, and as always the rumours surrounding them, from the credible to the downright fantastical:

Paul Pogba – Juventus to Manchester United (estimated fee 120 million euros): In one of the window’s most interesting sagas, French powerhouse Pogba, one of the world’s best midfielders at age 23, could possibly re-sign for United for a world-record fee, a mere four years after leaving on a free transfer. This would represent a great bit of business by Juventus, and Pogba’s presence will no doubt raise United’s standard immensely.

Riyad Mahrez – Leicester City to Arsenal (estimated fee 45 million pounds): The PFA Player of the Year could possibly join Arsenal, potentially representing one of the Premier League’s major moves. In what looks like his final season at the capital club, it seems that Arsene Wenger is looking to add the creative Algerian to spearhead one last title push.

Jese Rodriguez – Real Madrid to PSG (estimated fee 18 million euros): Unsettled playmaker Jese could leave European Champions Real for a PSG that, under former Sevilla manager Unai Emery, is looking for continental success. At the age of 26, this could be a smart move for the Parisians.

Diego Costa – Chelsea to Atletico Madrid (estimated fee 40 million euros): The fiery Spaniard could rejoin the red half of Madrid almost two years after his controversial move to eventual champions Chelsea in the 2014-15 campaign. With coach Diego Simeone threatening his resignation unless a top-class centre forward can be signed, Atletico may be willing to spend big to secure the signature of the striker.

Finally, here are a couple of moves that have already been confirmed from the past couple of days:

1. Kevin Gameiro – Sevilla to Atletico (32 million euros): the 29-year old French striker has moved to Champions League finalists Atleti after a fabulous campaign at Sevilla, with Luciano Vietto moving on loan to the Europa League champions.

2. Brad Smith – Liverpool to Bournemouth (six million pounds): Aussie left back Smith has swapped the noise of Anfield for the beautiful south coast of England, with Bournemouth making him their second signing from Liverpool after club-record signing Jordan Ibe.

3. Georginio Wijnaldum – Newcastle to Liverpool (23 million pounds): The Dutch star, who enjoyed a stellar debut campaign despite Newcastle’s torrid season and subsequent relegation, has moved to become a part of Jürgen Klopp’s revolution.

4. Andre Schürrle – Wolfsburg to Dortmund (30 million euros): The German World Cup winner and former Chelsea star has signed for Borussia Dortmund a year after joining Wolfsburg, and together with Marco Reus, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mario Götze will form a formidable attack in BVB’s title challenge.
