Hurricanes vs Lions: Super Rugby final kick-off time, key information

By The Roar / Editor

The 2016 Super Rugby Season has reached its final match, with the Hurricanes to host the Lions for the ultimate prize and the right to be called champions.

The match, to be played on Saturday, August 6 will kick off at 7:35pm local time, or 5:30pm (AEST) at Westpac Stadium in Wellington, home of the Hurricanes.

The game is likely to finish around 5:30pm local time or 7:30pm (AEST), with the broadcast running until 8pm (AEST), meaning the presentation after the game will be included.

Incredibly, it took just three minutes for the 34,500 tickets available at the ground to all sell, meaning it should be a good atmosphere for the biggest game of the season.

The match will be broadcast on Fox Sports, and can be streamed through either Foxtel Go or Foxtel Play, with no other alternatives available.

The Hurricanes and Lions were the best teams right throughout the season and deserve their place in the final, although the Lions have come under criticism for resting players during a game against the Jaguares, which they lost, meaning they now have to travel instead of hosting the final.

In the semi-finals, both teams had strong victories, with the Hurricanes putting the Chiefs away 25-9, while the Lions defeated the Highlanders 42-30.

I'm in Welly and its freezing and windy as. Right now 6 degrees, feels like 0 as per weather report. Earlier today I went to a water front cafe. I then went outside for a durry (I only have the odd one, on an occasion) and it was freezing despite wearing the ultimate fur coat with a huge collar. I was still cold. The lions are going to freeze and be blown off the park.

Making Digger live blog his team in the final might be a bit much even for the patron saint of live bloggers.

Digger I'll be off to my local to watch the game shortly. All the best for your boys. I'm happy whoever wins title for first time, but am touch sentimental for the Lions. Possible headline (touch wood panel of laptop): "Warren Whiteley wills (his) winning warriors in Wellington" ? Good luck! KP
