Day four of the olympic track cycling carnival will feature the medal races for the men’s sprint, the first three legs of the multi-disciplined Omnium and Anna Meares as she tries to make it through the early rounds of the women’s sprint. Join The Roar for live coverage of all the action from 5am (AEST).

The morning will roll off with the qualifying rounds of the women’s sprint. Australia’s Anna Meares and Stephanie Morton are expected to make their way through to the pointy end of the competition.

The start list also features the gold and silver medallists from yesterday’s tightly fought keirin – Elis Ligtlee (Netherlands) and Rebecca James (Great Britain) – as well as the ever dangerous Kristina Vogel (Germany).

Meares is the reigning Olympic champion in this event. Could she take home the title once again? While the medals won’t be decided today, we’ll definitely know more of our favourite cyclist’s form after this morning’s session.

The medals for the men’s sprint will be decided however, with Aussie Matthew Glaetzer paired up with Russia’s Denis Dmitriev in the race for bronze. Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner will battle it out for gold in an all-British final.

The men’s omnium will also get underway with the first three events to be contested. The riders will hit the boards with a scratch race, an individual pursuit and the always unpredictable elimination race.

Australia will be represented by the versatile Glen O’Shea while Britain’s Mark Cavendish will be trying to capture some Olympic glory after transitioning back to the track following a successful Tour de France on the road.

It all adds up to a fascinating morning of cycling.

Anna Meares to show us more of why she is the most decorated track cyclist our country has ever produced.

Be sure to follow all the live action from day four on the track right here on The Roar from 5am (AEST).
