The New York Rangers are not the team they were a few years ago.

Fans have seen more and more evidence of their decline, for instance their 4-1 opening-round playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Fans would also be familiar with the fact that they seem to be getting older and older. Young players such as Kevin Hayes are not performing.

The Rangers best case scenario next year looking at it as a realist is new acquisitions. They also must hope that their re-signed players such as Chris Kreider, Mika Zibenejad, Jimmy Vesey, and Kevin Hayes have strong seasons and complete a strong offense for the Rangers. They will need to work with Mats Zuccarello, Rick Nash, and Derek Stepan.

As for the defence, they need a miracle. Ryan McDonagh is the only player in my opinion who is in his prime. Other than McDonagh the Rangers defence consists of older players such as Marc Staal and Dan Girardi.

In a perfect world these older players rallied by McDonagh receive a second wind. In the goals, Henrik Lundqvist in the most likely best-case scenario will need to have an amazing year and the Rangers make the playoffs in a third-placed division spot, beating out the Islanders.

As for the worst-case scenario, the offense struggles due to players like Kevin Hayes, and Jimmy Hayes inability to preform.

The team will struggle to keep it going as the age becomes relevant at the end of a long season and the team will miss the playoffs.

Not even King Henrik can will save them and they will finish fifth and miss the wildcard in a tough and youthful Metropolitan Division.

That’s the worst-case scenario. What do you think Roarers, what is in store for the Rangers this year?
