So after another near miss again last week I’m back again to try and change our luck!

Spring is just around the corner so there is some good racing from across the country especially Caulfield which is where I will be taking a look at closely.

This week’s card is highlighted by the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) with a good support card around it!

As usual the early quaddie runs from races two through to five and the regular quaddie runs from races six through to nine, so let’s get stuck into it.

Early quaddie:

First leg – Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap 1400m
3 Hi World is resuming here and wasn’t far off fresh last prep in the Memsie stakes, will need it wet and everything to go right for it.

4 He’s Our Rokkii is resuming here and run solidly first up last prep. They then put the blinkers on him and he won three out of his next four races, will be short of his best trip but he can win!

6 Tarquin is also resuming here beat Lahqa off a freshen up in April and ran a handy second when first up in February.

8 Jungle Edge is racing in good form. He won on Wednesday so unsure if he makes up here, loves the sting out of the track.

9 Prince of Brooklyn I liked this horse but at the price he is a bit short for me and have thrown others in for insurance, has been racing consistently and finally broke through last start here.

Suggestions: 3-4-6-8-9

Second leg – Hockingstuart Plate 1400m Mares HCP
1 She’s Clean has been racing consistently and raced well finishing third behind some talented males, back to own sex here is a plus.

2 Gabella will be hitting the line strongly as she is first up and likes it further wasn’t far off first up last prep behind Written at Bendigo.

4 Vibrant Rouge is another consistent mare who has been racing well, steps up to the 1400 meters which should suit.

5 My Sister Lil ran very well last time out and on her best form is very good on her day, hasn’t been far off a win.

6 Antelucan resumes here ran solidly behind Scarlet Billows fresh last prep and then she beat Lahqa and won an Adelaide Guineas.

8 Daniela Rosa beat Euro Angel two starts back at her first go over 1600 meters she then went up to 1800 meters where she finished third behind some older mares who were in form.

11 Majestic Lass was impressive stringing two wins together at Geelong and Caulfield before her luckless fourth placing last time out at Sandown where she was excellent against the pattern of the day.

Third leg – Moniek Sambor Tile Importer Handicap BM78 1200m
6 Camdus bounced back to form last start with a good win at Flemington over this distance.

7 Heza Ripper was heavily backed here last time when he won and horses behind him then came out and won, stuck on well last time when running fourth.

12 Badajoz closed well with 60 kilos two starts back and then he ended up near the rail last start, has been racing consistently and is in this race.

13 Manhattan Blues hit the line well two starts back behind Magicus and flashed late last start when he got clear running, is going well and isn’t far from a win.

17 Black Vanquish resumes here and has shown ability, had one run last prep but had a poor recovery rate, has trialled super!

Suggestions: 6-7-12-13-17

Last leg – The Resimax Stakes 1100m
Last leg, let’s hope we are still alive.

1 Under the Louvre resuming here is the class horse of the field and does have to lump the 60 kilos but I think he can get the job done, charged here with 60 kilos back here in April in the Bel Esprit Stakes when he was fresh and always runs quick sectionals, if he has the race run to suit he will steam over the top of them late.

First leg – McNeil Stakes 1200m
1 Defcon from the Snowden stable in Sydney resumes here and has been trialling well in Sydney, ran a very good second last prep when fresh.

2 Seaburge resumes here, trialling beautifully ran great sectionals at Sandown before winning the VRC sires, huge talent.

3 Highland Beat got shuffled back last time out when fresh but rushed home late to narrowly miss, has ran well here before and has ran second to Extreme Choice.

5 Blue Tycoon resumes here and the only defeat was behind a smart one over in Adelaide has won here before and pretty well before he went for a spell.

9 Hardham won well on debut then closed the race off nicely last time out when he was here finishing third.

Suggestions: 1-2-3-5-9

Second leg – Memsie Stakes 1400m
I’m very keen on just the one runner here and I think he can get the job done.

2 Black Heart Bart has been running consistently and in great form, he comes off an eleven week and prior to that he finished second in the Stradbroke to Under The Louvre, his 1400 meter form is awesome with ten starts for five wins and four second placings, I’m confident he can get the job done.

Third leg – Heatherlie Stakes 1700m HCP
1 Almoonqith resumes here and has trialled well at Tatura prior to this, hit the line sweetly when 4.2 lengths off Bow Creek at 1800 meters WFA last prep when he was fresh.

4 Magnapal was home in quick time over the last 200 meters coming off a slow speed and at an unsuitable distance, very good at WFA level and won this race last year.

6 Longeron has been racing in consistent form so he is in the mix again, comes off a six week freshen up.

7 Provocative the Kiwi horse resuming here was awesome in the Queensland Oaks before her spell and is a highly talented horse, has jumped out well.

9 Tom Melbourne resumes here brilliant first up win last time over 1800m at Flemington then had a good win in the Albury cup before failing in the Mornington Cup, has talent.

Last leg – Cockram Stakes 1200m
The all important last leg.

1 Don’t Doubt Mamma resumes here and was very good two starts back coming in off a freshen up beating Miss Gunpowder, has class.

2 Thames Court resumes here, was impressive last time when fresh thrashing Turbo Miss and then won again.

4 Jessy Belle resumes here for a new stable with the Hayes yard, likes Caulfield and was placed fresh in April.

7 A Lotta Love had a freshen up here and won well two starts back then was terrific off a wide run in a Group 3 over in Adelaide in May.

8 Kayjay’s Joy resumes here, was impressive returning here in April with a win then was solid in a handy race before she was sent for a spell.

9 Telopea has had a freshen up here and comes back in trip and was racing consistently before her freshen up, expect her to go well.

12 Mossin’ Around chopped out when going for a run when resuming, the form through her firs prep is excellent, is in the mix here.

13 Ocean Embers impressed in all three runs since coming back from a spell, expect her to finish strongly and be right in the finish.
