Manchester United vs Manchester City highlights: EPL scores

By Isaac Nowroozi / Roar Guru

Manchester United are looking to leapfrog bitter rivals Manchester City and claim top sport of the Premier League table. Join The Roar from 9:30pm (AEST) for live scores from the Manchester derby.

Coming off three-straight wins, United are looking to keep their perfect start of the season going against league leaders City.

The Red Devils are coming off a 1-nil win over Hull City, which nearly saw then drop two points until Marcus Rashford’s injury-time winner stole all the points.

Once again, all eyes will be on the strikers, particularly Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has found the net three times in three games for United, including a double against Southampton.

Until 2015, United had lost four derby games in a row against City, however they are unbeaten against their rivals in their last three, winning two – another win, and they are on their way to making Manchester red once again.

The Citizens have likewise had a perfect start in season 2016-17, and are coming off an efficient performance in which they dismantled West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Rahim Sterling proved his worth scoring early and late, as Fernandinho bagged one of his own in the 18th minute.

City will be forced to take on the Red Devils without star striker Sergio Aguero, who will miss the derby due to suspension.

The last time these two sides faced off was back in March, as Rashford scored in the 16th minute for United to take a 1-nil win away from home.

Prediction
United possess the fire power, while City have the experienced, tighter backline. However, without the threat of Aguero up front, the Red Devils’ job has been made just a little easier at home.

Manchester United 1-0 Manchester City

Any complaints about Optus EPL coverage this week. Biggest beat up in Australian football history.

Pogba had a bad game - he is the new Yaya Toure. Moments of brilliance and domination followed by absenteeism and disinterest. Cannot possibly agree re other comments. Big Zlatan has a history of big moments and did actually score from limited opportunities. As a city fan I was worried whenever he was lurking about. However he is definitely slow. As for players worth the investment, there are a dozen other players you could name outside of the barca and real bubble. The complete Juve back 5 are not bad. Sergio Aguerro would cost city £100m if they bought him now. Bayern's squad is not exactly made up of over achievers. Might be a couple of value for money stars there. Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski and Manuel Neuer wouldn't be cheap. Antonio Greizmann was pure quality and the best player at the euros (up until the semi) and has been doing it at club level also. What would Real or PSG pay for Hazard right now? Me personally however, I think City got great value for money on Kevin De Bruyne and I continue to love watching David Silva play his subtle shifting of the time and space continuum.

Maybe you missed the game then Alan. The undisputable fact is that Ibrahimovic scored an excellent goal.

Good second half despite the lack of goals. Although i'll be cursing it come the World Cup I'm enjoying the Optus/SBS deal at the moment.

Pogba is a good player....but he is nowhere near worth the money that United paid him. Goodness knows why they forked out that much cash for him. Ibrahimovic also struggles to deliver in big matches. Its a cold hard fact. There are only five players worth the investment...Bale, Ronaldo, Neymar, Suarez and Messi. City are miles ahead in class so far. United' squad for all the attention, isn't anything special to be frank.
