If the teams in the Rugby Championship were used cars...

By The Crowd / Roar Guru

If the teams in the Rugby Championship were used vehicles and you owned one, could you sell it to a pal and sleep at night? Here’s what the advice might look like if the buyer took it for a pre-sale check up.

Which car? How’s the reliability? What’s the price? Let’s take a look.

The All Blacks – 2016 all-wheel-drive Toyota 4Runner

A powerful, fully capable SUV. This pocket monster has less than 6,000 klicks on the clock. Its super smooth engine needs only a little fine tuning now and then. You can take this one anywhere and be assured of its performance. Comes highly recommended.

The Pumas – 2015 Mazda CX-5
This little thing is surprisingly sporty at the lights. The car corners well but can tend towards being short of a bit of oomph on the grades. Could use some body work, but a good buy in Perth.

The Springboks – 2012 Holden Spark
Sadly, despite being only four years into its life, it keeps running out of gas and stalling all the time. Rusty wheel arches. Stodgy acceleration. That’s only part of the problem. May needs spare parts if you choose to buy one in Christchurch.

The Wallabies – 2014 Mitsubishi Pajero

Recent detailing has improved its looks, but the flaws below the surface remain. A switch to a higher octane has amped up the performance but reliability is still an issue. NRMA Roadside Assist strongly recommended in Western Australia.

England would have to be some sort of Volvo right, solid and safe but boring.

All Blacks are bugatti royale, limited edition, very classy, huge grunt, once seen, never forgotten. pumas, old porsche 911, very quick, unpredictable handling, boks, old landrover, stodgy, set in its ways, still can surprise, wallas, hq holden, tough, limited sparkle, needs a polish.

Id say NZ are a Bugati. SA a Nissan Skyline thats been altered so much that its not running properly. The Wallabies are a Mitsi Lancer with a scoop and a racing stripe. A good car but trying to pretend its something better than it is. Arg are an old bush basher with nitro added to it. Can go at break neck speed for short stints but its too hard on the motor and it cant sustain it for long and its at risk of breaking down afterwards.

Galatzo - great read and my two cents below. All Blacks Tesla - an electric car for an electric team. Australia would be Google self driving cars - a driverless chariot for a team with no leadership. Springboks would be F150's as they're solid and can take a beating. Australia is also a PT Cruiser as some people who like them are ashamed to be fans.

Love it. Mind you I dont think the ABs are a car. They are car wreckers lol. Maybe the Boks have used up their engine allowance for the year and now face penalties and the tyre quota system is hurting them. The Wallabies desperately need some new rubber but its dry and they only have intermediates but after 4 tests this year it looked like the wheels had fallen off and the Puma's used a bit more fuel than they thought and should have put more in at their half-distance pit stop
