Arsenal have defeated Antonio Conte’s Chelsea 3-0 at the Emirates, better yet, this week marked Arsene Wenger’s 20th year anniversary with the club.

All the damage was done in the opening half where the three goals occurred before the 45 minute whistle. Let’s take a look at some of the talking points taken from the match.

Theo Walcott has proved himself once again and made his way back into the spotlight
Walcott scored in the 14th minute after a typical Arsenal goal with a number of accurate passes strung together and eventually putting it in the back of the net off a Hector Bellerin pinpoint cross.

Walcott has been seeing dark days in the past few months. However, in recent games, the Englishmen has proved that he can still make an impact. Will this be a successful season for the speedster?

Does the Chelsea defence need a revamp?
César Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic all started for the Blues and the outcome was not ideal. Mistakes, miscommunication and downright average defence from the back four.

Gary Cahill received the worst rating on the pitch. The performance of the squad left many fans wondering, is it time for a makeover of the Chelsea defence?

Is John Terry the missing piece of the puzzle to help form a sold back line?

Alex Iwobi is on the rise, fast
Arsenal are looking good this season. The squad is blossoming and this is due to some imports in the transfer window, and arising stars from the academy. One of these talents is Alex Iwobi. His appearance against Hull City last weekend was an example of his quality and at only 20 years of age, his potential is truly something to keep your eye on.

The Arsenal back-line is looking strong at the moment
Beginning with Hector Bellerin, the young Spaniard is truly a pace demon. He received a high rating after his solid performance in the match and is most definitely being hunted by some big clubs. The Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny partnership looks to be blossoming also. Committed, ruthless and tactical centre backs the pair are, that control the game nicely.

A few key points to think about:

  • Alexis Sánchez is becoming more consistent, and more lethal.
  • Mesut Ozil behind him only makes Arsenal more of a threat then they already are.
  • Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois: on the rise or fall?
  • Are Arsenal finally sufficient in squad depth?
  • Where do Chelsea need to re-think their plan of attack besides the defence issues?
