The West Indies have put in performances during the first two matches of this series that are a far cry from their world championship performance during the world T20 earlier in the year.

Given that tournament was played in similar conditions, on the sub-continent in India it makes their capitulation in the one series where they were rated a chance a little baffling.

Their squad isn’t lacking a lot, and has plenty of talent throughout which is something that can’t always be said for their Test match squad, where they have won very few matches in recent times.

While the West Indies were comprehensively outplayed in the first match after being knocked over in their innings for just 115 runs, they rebounded in the second and seemed to adjust to the conditions a little better as they put up more of a fight.

Despite that, the Pakistan side still played outstanding cricket, particularly from their performance in the field and were never under more than a little bit of pressure.

Pakistan would bat first in the second match, scoring 160 with Sarfraz Ahmed putting in a wonderful performance down the order and scoring 46 from 32 balls after a solid platform has been built.

On a pitch that was offering plenty of assistance for the bowlers, 160 seemed to be about a par score but in the end it turned out to be too much as the West Indies top order crumbled again.

Apart from a brief resistance from Andre Fletcher, they simply didn’t build a partnership and with Sohail Tanvir lovked in with the ball for a second straight match, picking up another three wickets it was always going to be a mountain too high.

If the West Indies are to reverse their form, then it all comes down to getting a good start when batting. Building a good platform is crucial, and it has left them under far too much pressure by not being able to do that thus far in the series.

Prediction
Pakistan are on fire in the shortest form of the game, but I’m going to continue sticking with the world champions. They have to win at some point, and there is no better time than now to build form for the rest of the tour.

West Indies in a close one.

Pakistan surprisingly won the T20 Series 3-0 over World champion West Indies. But wining the ODI Series would be more important for them to better their 9th.Ranking for direct entry into World Cup 2019.
