Rug-less Doug: Bollinger goes bald... again

By The Roar / Editor

He’s been known best for his notorious head of totally genuine *cough* hair, but Doug ‘The Rug’ Bollinger has now decided to rejoin the horde of the bald.

In a one-day trial match for the New South Wales Blues, Bollinger was sporting a noticeably aerodynamic look.

Bollinger sprung into national contention back in 2007-08, when he grabbed 45 wickets at an average of 15.44 in the season for the Blues. A Cricket Australia contract duly followed, as did a luscious collection of locks not long after. Problem was, Dougie’s new head of hair never really seemed all too genuine, especially when the left-arm quick was picked up on hotspot after taking a wicket for Australia team.

There hasn’t been a halo which has glowed as brightly as Doug’s head did on that day.

But it turns out Bollinger has decided to ditch the rug, shaving his head and opting instead for a fairly hefty beard instead. Hardly a ringing endorsement for Ashley and Martin, the hair loss company who so proudly list Bollinger in their ‘Celebrities with hair replacement’ page.

Anyway, turns out the new do is suiting Doug pretty nicely, with Mr Rug-less picking up a couple of early wickets in the trial against Tasmania.

The article is incorrect stating that Doug the rug was an ambassador for Ashley and Martin medical hair loss clinics. Ashley and Martin do not have brand ambassadors and don't sell rugs. They are a medical company. The company that should have been mentioned is Advanced Hair Studio's who are a non medical company that sells glued on rugs and have brand ambassadors.

Why no further Matador Cup articles ? I will start off proceedings. First game kicks off today in Brisbane.. no telecast by Nine or live stream from CA. Poor show. QLD are hosting a CAX1 with some enterprising young talent in their lineup.. names of the future such as Arjun Nair, William Bosisto, David Grant, Tom O'Donnell and Ryan Gibson.

What can you say.. Dougie is Dougie.. rug or not. A bit of a cult here in Blues territory. Will this be Doug's swan song year. Is getting a bit long in the tooth now. He would make a good bowling coach.
