Fight preview

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping will be looking to defend his belt in front of a home crowd when he takes on Dan Henderson for the second time. Join The Roar from 1pm AEST for live coverage and round-by-round action.

Back at UFC 100, Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson met for the first time, and Henderson delivered a knockout that stayed in the highlight reel for years, and will remain there for years to come.

Since then, Bisping’s career has had its ups and downs, with crucial losses always stunting his chances to fight for the gold.

However, that all changed in the build-up to UFC 199. After coming off wins over CB Dollaway, Thales Leites and Anderson Silva, Bisping was granted a title shot on just two weeks notice against a man that had already defeated him, Luke Rockhold.

A five-to-one underdog, Bisping did what no one thought was possible, and knocked out Rockhold in the first round with punches.

On the same card, another major upset came to be. This time, it was Dan Henderson knocking out Hector Lombard in devastating fashion to earn a title shot.

Henderson is known for his vicious knockout power and incredible heart.

Now, at 46 years of age, Henderson is looking to finally grab the belt that his eluded him for so long, and finish his historic career on an incredible high.

However, he will have to do it Michael Bisping’s home town, in a country where the champion has never lost.

Prediction
This is one of the rematches that we never thought would happen. Since UFC 100, Bisping has gotten better, while Henderson has been inconsistent. If Henderson can land a huge shot, he can win the fight, but that’s his only real weapon and Bisping will be looking for it.

If Bisping fights smart, and outlands Henderson, he should retain his belt in front of his hometown crowd in Manchester.

Michael Bisping to defeat Dan Henderson via unanimous decision.

If Hendo wins and retires what should happen to the title? Initial title fight between winners of Jacare V Rockhold and Weidman v Romero, Bisping fights one of Mousasi and Brunson on the same card and the winner of that gets the next shot?

I have zero respect or regard for this joke of a title fight but that was a pretty great end to the first round
