The path towards an NBA starting role is clearer for Boomer Matthew Dellavedova, following a trade which sends his main competition out of Milwaukee.
The Chicago Bulls on Monday traded Tony Snell to Milwaukee in exchange for former rookie of the year Michael Carter-Williams as the two Central Division foes swapped guards.
The 6-foot-6 Carter-Williams was the 11th overall selection by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2013 draft and he was traded to Milwaukee during the 2014-15 season.
He has averaged 14.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 190 games, including 170 starts and was the starting point guard – the role Dellavedova covets – for the Bucks last year.
Bulls general manager Gar Forman said the team was excited to add Carter-Williams – “a two-way player who adds versatility and depth”.
In three NBA seasons, Snell has averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 18.5 minutes over 213 games, including 67 starts.
Dellavedova won the NBA championship with Cleveland last season before signing a four-year, $US38 million ($A50 million)-dollar deal with Milwaukee this past off-season.

Its great to see Dellavedova get the starting role for the Bucks. Its been a long hard road and he has earned his spot. I still think Milwaulkee paid too much for him though, but, he will be a reliable player and a good pro. On the other hand MCW is a terrific young talent but he doesn't know how to shoot the ball. I don't care how exciting, talented and athletic you are in the NBA, if you cant shoot the ball you will found your way out of the roster. Maybe Chicago can make him a better shooter, but I doubt it.
