Moonee Valley Quaddie Preview 28th October and Flemington 29th October

By Jarrod Kurpiel / Roar Guru

After a great week of racing last week where Winx was the clear standout of the week we are back to search for more winners after an unsuccessful week last week.

This week we are going to preview the big Moonee Valley quaddie on Friday night and the Saturday afternoon quaddie at Flemington with the Derby being the highlight on a strong card there.

We should see huge pools for both so take a look at my selections and build from them however you wish as we all work to grab a slice of the two quaddies coming up.

Moonee Valley Quaddie:

First Leg – Inglis 55 Second Challenge Heat 4 955m BM70
Pretty keen on just the one runner here in number 9 Miss Vista, she has shown plenty of ability to date and has the good looks to match. She finished third last start at Caulfield after setting a decent pace and tiring late has trialed since that run and looked very good, can bounce back here and win!

Suggestions: 9

Second Leg – Ranvet Handicap 1200m F&M BM78
1 Florelle has fought on gamely in similar races at it’s past few starts, races right on the pace and makes her own luck and is right in the mix here.

2 Grey Street has improved with each run this prep, stuck to it’s guns when racing wide last start and was game just going down narrowly over in Adelaide, can go one better here.

4 Entrancing is in fine form winning both starts for the Stokes stable in Adelaide after coming over from Sydney, is in the mix again and has earned her crack at some tougher races.

8 Cheeky Babe has had two runs back this prep and has finished second on both occasions but both runs have been full of merit and a win isn’t far away for this girl, must include!

Suggestions: 1-2-4-8

Third Leg – Ellar Classic Handicap 1200m 3Y BM64
1 I’m Telling Ya, drew a sticky gate last time and wasn’t disgraced after being wide the trip behind Model Dragon, maiden win in June came at this trip, can bounce back here.

2 Invincible Al, resuming here, showed good promise during debut prep and was close up in listed company before spell, must be respected.

3 Magellan was favourite at Pakenham on debut and weaved through the field to win nicely, worth watching.

5 Speedeor had excuses at it’s first race start in May, resumed with a nice win at Cranbourne when travelling well, looks a nice type.

8 Invictum Domina showed promise last prep and was too strong on the pace winning when resuming at Wangaratta, a little tougher here but has upside.

9 Mandee tackled Group 3 company on debut and was out of her depth there after showing pace and finishing last, always travelling when odds on first up, looks promising.

Suggestions: 1-2-3-5-8-9

Last Leg – Smartline Handicap 2040m BM70
1 Charlevoix got a fair way back off a tardy start first up but was solid in the run home, should improve second up and is a smart horse!

2 Zenithal close up last start when rising in grade and will strip fitter for this, easier grade here and should figure in the finish.

5 Palmera Lad is racing well and has won twice in it’s past four, got too far back here two runs ago, must consider.

7 Mr Pago put in another bold showing at Moe last start and there was a good gap to third there, honest horse and is in the mix again.

10 My Naughty Hoaks has won three out of her past four and looked good last start when leading throughout, can give them something to chase again here.

11 Mac’s Mettle finally broke through last start after a run of placings, tardy at the start but picked up late to get the victory last time out, can go on with it here,

Suggestions 1-2-5-7-10-11

Flemington Quaddie

First Leg – Myer Classic 1600m
1 Rising Romance was sound last start in the Stock Stakes but the winner did fly past her, she is a genuine Group 1 Mare when shes at her best, likes Flemington and could be a rough hope.

2 First Seal had 58kgs when resuming and came down the middle when the inside was the place to be she then bounced back second up winning at Caulfield giving them all weight.

4 Danish Twist has been racing consistently this prep finishing third first up in a hot form race and finished off hard last start at Caulfield was home 11.44 last 200 meters was the race quickest.

7 Don’t Doubt Mamma came off a slow speed to win the Stock Stakes where she beat Kaniana who won last week, in form and can win again.

10 Dixie Blossoms finished second behind First Seal and Tycoon Tara when second up, she then won last start over 1600 meters where she broke 33 seconds in her last 600 meters.

12 Euro Angel trialed well before her good return when she finished second and was set a huge task, came wide against the pattern over 1600 meters at Caulfield last start and was too good!

14 Whispering Brook took a sit last time and was sound with every chance when suited at level weights, scratched at the barrier last week.

Suggestions: 1-2-4-7-10-12-14

Second Leg – AAMI Victoria Derby 2500m
Pretty keen on just the one runner because it looks a thin race, number 1 Sacred Elixir gave weight to key rivals fresh and still beat them he then held ground in the Guineas, he overcame trouble at his last start when winning and was too good last week, looks the clear on top selection for me.

Suggestions: 1 Sacred Elixir

Third Leg – Cantala Stakes 1600m
1 Palentino ran over a genuine Group 1 star here then forget last start in the Epsom miss when he looked lost racing right-handed in Sydney.

2 The United States should have gone close in the Dato then was simply too good for them last week off a slow speed, will go close again.

4 He’s Our Rokkii has won six of seven starts with the blinkers, his mile form is excellent and knuckled down last start to win the Group 1 last time out.

7 Voodoo Lad is racing in consistent fashion and it is hard to knock him here, the only issue would be the mile but if he gets through that well he will be right in the finish.

16 Seaburge loomed to win the Prelude but just no match with blinkers on, drove hard and just missed in Guineas, has no weight and can win!

Suggestions: 1-2-4-7-16

Last Leg – TAB.com.au Stakes 1200m
1 Dibayani nailed right on the wire in the Epsom at his latest run, sharply back in trip but ran well here fresh in August, needs a win! A rough chance here.

5 Keen Array had an easy lead on day where on pacers were suited last start and too strong, covered ground prior and won well, can win again.

6 Counterattack should have won when resuming then was trapped wide in the Rupert Clarke and forgive, a mile was a touch too far last start.

8 Ocean Embers has been racing well this prep with a couple of wins and a few placings, home strong in a hot race last time out behind Star Turn, can win here.

9 We’ve Got This enormous chase after slow start in Group 2 Bobbie Lewis, strong home behind class act in The Quarterback last start, can win!

10 Southern Legend charged late to score first up and was hampered by riderless horse and should have gone close at Caulfield last time.

Don't think so mate! Miss vista to ping the start and either sit second or lead, Dwayne Dunn has the ride and only two rides tonight so they seem pretty confident. Only tired late the last 100 meters first up and fought on well, has trialled well since then and will be fitter here.

Gibbon to ruin your MV quaddie in the first leg. Hopefully sit behind the speed battle between Money Chaser, Miss Vista and Money Clip and have the last go at them out wide.

It does indeed but can't take them all if you want a decent slice of the percentage! I agree best horse on the day will win, I agree it is a tough race but I think I have it covered! That's true mate, we will watch with interest!

Looks close to a field job in the Myer Classic. Doesn't look to be much pace.... So falls into a sit-sprint affair...Can see so many Mares looking for runs as they straighten. Very tough race Jarrod,,,but almost each year, you can shop for value in The Myer.
