The NBA season has continued with plenty of action overnight including wins for the Warriors, Thunder and the Grizzlies in overtime.

Golden State Warriors squeeze by the Phoenix Suns
Kevin Durant led the way for the Warriors as they had to over come a spirited Phoenix Suns team 106-100.

Durant had 37 points for the Warriors and was helped by reigning MVP Stephen Curry who chipped in with 28 points, but all the talk will be around how again this Warriors team is yet to really get into gear yet – despite this being just their third game together.

The defence for the Warriors was again not what is expected of the team and poor decision-making from a number of players has also plagued the team early on.

Phoenix came out of the gates strong and took a two-point lead going into the second half and continued to push the Warriors until the final seconds of the game.

TJ Warren was again the standout for the Suns scoring 26 but it would not be enough for the young Suns to take what would have been a big early scalp in the season.

Another Thunder win another Russell Westbrook triple double
Oklahoma City Thunder cruised past the LA Lakers 113-96 behind another big night for Russell Westbrook.

Oklahoma moved to 3-0 for the season and Westbrook has had two triple doubles in those three wins. Tonight’s effort was again impressive, scoring 33 points, 12 rebounds and 16 assists in the win.

Oladipo was also impressive with 20 points.

The Lakers had good nights from D’angelo Russell and Julius Randle who both scored 20 points but they were no match for the Thunder and Westbrook.

Russell is on a tear early in the season and is proving to people why he was the number one choice for MVP before the season started. Whether he can keep this up for an entire season is yet to be seen but the Thunder will happily take these performances as long as the wins keep coming.

Grizzlies overcome Wizards in OT
Washington let a late chance slip away in OT as they fall to the Grizzlies 112-103. Despite being up by 8 with around three minutes to go the Wizards were unable to hold on in regulation.

A flurry of scoring from Marc Gasol started when he hit a three pointer with just over 15 seconds left in the regulation period. He then fired up in OT scoring 8 of his team’s 12 points and outscoring the Wizards on his own in that time.

It was his overall three-point shooting though that was the surprise, Gasol is close to scoring more three pointers in this season (6) than he has his entire career (12) and we are just three games into the season

Michael Conley was the leading scorer for Memphis with 24 points, John Wall was the leading scorer for Washington with 22.

Houston steal a late win
James Harden scored a free throw in the dying seconds to lift the Houston Rockets to a 93-92 win over crosstown rivals Dallas Mavericks.

The game ended in some controversy when Harden was awarded the free throws with less than a second to go, in the play it appeared that Harden was holding onto the jersey of Dallas Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews. However the referees missed the foul and it turned into a costly no call for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks had the Rockets’ number in the fourth quarter and looked set to send the game into overtime. Unfortunately for them it was not to be. Wesley Matthews had played the starring role for Dallas who were without star big man Dirk Nowitzki who was out with an injury.

Houston was again led by Harden with 28 points and had a small cameo role from Sam Dekker who was perfect from behind the line with 3.
