Tottenham vs Bayer Leverkusen highlights: Champions League scores, blog

Tottenham Hotspur will take on Bayer Leverkusen at Wembley this Thursday morning at 6:45am AEDT. Join The Roar for live scores from the match and a blog of the game.

A win for Mauricio Pochettino’s men could put them at the top of group E if Monaco fail to defeat CSKA Moscow. A loss could put them in serious danger and could possibly see themselves at the bottom of their group.

In their last match two weeks ago Tottenham held on for a point after being second best to the German side during the game. Hugo Lloris made six saves in that game and fans of the London club will hope to see him called into less action this time around.

The Spurs are five games without a win with four draws and one loss to Liverpool in the EFL Cup with their last win coming against Manchester City.

Leverkusen however, is coming into this game off the back of a 2-1 win against 16th placed Wolfsburg. Although they have failed to win a game in their previous four with three draws and a loss.

Tottenham will be missing Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Toby Alderweireld through injury and suspension. Erik Lamela is also in doubt after suffering a hip injury in training.

Their German opposition have also had some recent injury woes in Jonathan Tah and Omer Toprak missing their last game but are expected to both make their returns at Wembley. Karim Bellarabi will miss out after recently having groin surgery.

After an impressive run that earned him player of the month, Heung Min Son is yet to score in six games after winning the award and would love a goal to get himself back on track. Vincent Janssen will also be looking for a goal in open play after scoring two consecutive penalties for the Lilywhites.

Javier Hernandez will also want to break his goal drought after going five games without a goal. His last goal came against Borussia Dortmund in their 2-0 win at home.

After recent struggles Tottenham put 21 shots on Leicester City on the weekend but will want to have a better conversion rate than they did in their 1-1 draw. My prediction is that we will see a tight encounter with Pochettino’s just edging it with a 1-0 victory.

20 minutes to go and Tottenham is showing no signs of getting back into the game as most their attacks are sloppy. N Koudou is getting ready on the bench as we speak
