England were unable to come up trumps in their Four Nations opener against New Zealand, going down 17-16 in Huddersfield at the hands of a Shaun Johnson field goal.

It is do or die for Wayne Bennett’s men who proved that they can mix it with the world’s best last week.

They will have to defeat Scotland without two of their most experienced players with 20-game veteran Gareth Widdop and 31-cap vice-captain James Graham both sitting out the crucial clash.

It sees Liam Farrell and Scott Taylor come into the side for what will be Leeds cult hero Ryan Hall’s 30th test appearance as he hopes to score his 30th try.

There will be plenty of pressure on Wigan young gun George Williams to deliver at No.6 with his composure to prove a massive challenge.

It will be the first time in 104 years since the Midlands has hosted a Test match, the last time coming on New Year’s Day 1912 when Australia accounted for Great Britain 33-8 at Villa Park in Birmingham.

Scotland coach Steve McCormack has also brought about changes to his side after their 54-12 thrashing to Australia in Hull.

Skipper Danny Brough has been named after a stellar match in a losing side however, his halves partner Ryan Brierley will not return.

McCormack is expected to name Lachlan Coote alongside him with Matty Russell shifting to the back.

Meanwhile, Intrust Super Cup duo Sheldon Powe-Hobbs and Billy McConnachie drop out in favour of Frankie Mariano, Tyler Cassel and brothers Brett and Callum Phillips.

If Cassel and Mariano run out at Ricoh Arena, it will be their first appearance for Scotland while Danny Brough will earn his 22nd cap, only one behind record-holder Andrew Henderson. Henderson, currently coaching the London Broncos, represented the Bravehearts from 2003-2013. The hooker appeared at both the 2008 and 2013 world cups alongside Brough and youngest brother Ian while Kevin joined them in 2008.

England and Scotland have never played each other in international rugby league since they split away in 1995.

Prediction
The Poms will earn a convincing win and keep their tournament hopes alive.

England by 20.

England not very impressive, Scotland with a few more quality players would have beaten them. Burgess boys just a bunch of thugs.
