Coming off a 3-1 win over Swansea City, Manchester United will be searching for their second-straight win as they get the chance to close the gap against Arsenal.
Paul Pogba scored early for United, before Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted twice in 12 minutes shortly after.
However, Ibrahimovic also found himself yellow-carded late in the match, which means that he will miss the Red Devils’ clash against the Gunners.
However, one man that will be returning to the dugout is manager Jose Mourinho, who has served his one-game sideline ban.
Despite a disappointing 1-all draw against rival side Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal find themselves three points away from top spot on the table.
The Gunners were all over the Spurs for the majority of the match, however they could not find the net. In the end, their one-goal came via the head of Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer, before a second-half penalty saw them share the spoils.
Arsenal could be without workhorse Alexis Sanchez who suffered a hamstring injury during the international break, the Gunners’ medical team is undecided whether he is fit to play.
The last time these two faced off was back in February. Marcus Rashford put the Red Devils ahead via two goals in the first 30 minutes, before Danny Welbeck got one back for the Gunners before half time.
In the second half, Ander Herrera put Manchester ahead by two once again, before Mesut Ozil made it 3-2 just four minutes later. United would hold on for all three points.
Prediction
This fixture has shown plenty of fireworks in the past, but since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson it has been rather quite. However, Mourinho and Arsene Wenger are hardly friends, and that manager switch for United could very well be just what this rivalry needed. Arsenal have been the more consistent side, so expect them edge a win in what should be an intense clash.
