Rugby fans already know James Horwill is tough, but this is another level.
The former Queensland Reds and Wallabies lock suffered a severe dislocation of his index finger on his left hand with just 10 minutes remaining during the Harlequins 25-6 loss against the Leicester Tigers.
The 31-year-old fell over awkwardly on the pitch but wanted to continue playing after the team physio taped up the injury.
Horwill went on to laugh off the injury, retweeting former English international Andy Goode’s praise for his toughness.
Despite the bone in his finger puncturing the skin, the Harlequins centre urged the physio to let him finish the game, but it was determined the injury was too much and he was replaced by Charlie Mulchrone.
The team physio temporarily popped the finger back into place before Horwill had the compound fracture tended to properly later on.
There’s no doubting the toughness of the captain, but his team weren’t able to grab the win with Tigers fly-half Freddie Burns kicking 20 points.
The loss to the Tigers ensures the Harlequins sit eighth with two-thirds of the season still left to play.
