Kevin Love scored the second most points ever in an NBA quarter as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Portland Trailblazers.

Love displayed some unbelievable shooting touch on his way to eleven of 14 field goals in a single quarter.

The Cavs power forward nailed eight from ten from outside the three-point line, while also scoring each of his first six shots in the match – including five from three.

Love fell just three points shy of the NBA record for most points in a quarter. The current benchmark was set by Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, who scored 37 points in a quarter in January last year.

This effort from Love, is now the highest amount of points ever scored in an NBA first quarter as well as the Cleveland Cavaliers’ record for most points in a single quarter – smashing LeBron James’ previous record of 24.

The Cavs went on to win the game 137-125. Considering his blistering start, Love finished the match with a slightly underwhelming total of 40 points.
