Match preview:

The Newcastle Jets will be looking to break their seven-game winless streak when they take on Perth Glory at nib Stadium on Saturday night. Join The Roar for live scores from 10pm (AEDT).

The injury-ravaged Jets have scored just four goals during their winless streak and have gone scoreless in four of those games.

They are coming off a terrible performance in last week’s 2-0 loss to Sydney FC. Sydney dominated having 20 shots on goal to the Jets’ paltry three, and had 150 more passes. Only a terrific performance from goalkeeper Jack Duncan kept the Jets from copping a bigger hiding on the scoreboard.

Perth Glory have been inconsistent and have only had one victory in their past six matches. They are coming off a gritty, somewhat fortuitous 1-1 draw against Melbourne Victory.

Glory were off to a good start with the opening goal thanks to a terrific pass by Nebojsa Marinkovic to Chris Harold who crossed for striker Andy Keogh to smash home the first goal of the game. It was Keogh’s seventh goal in nine matches.

However, a bad mistake from defender Dino Djulbic from a Marcos Rojas cross gifter Besart Berisha the equaliser. Glory were fortunate not to concede further and it’s far from the first howler from Djulbic who has had a poor season.

Prediction
Glory have not lost a game at home this season and have scored 10 goals from four games at nib Stadium. They also have won their last eight games against the Jets.

The Jets lost another player to injury last week in Ben Kantarovski with a knee injury but will welcome back defenders Nigel Boogaard and Daniel Mullen and also winger Andrew Nabbout who will give their insipid attack some hope.

After failing to have one shot on target last week, the Jets must be wishing how they would love to have their former gun striker and now Glory striker Adam Taggart back in the side.

It’s hard to see how the Jets will hold Keogh and Taggart along with Marinkovic and Harold.
