An injury to Tom Rogic has overshadowed Celtic’s 2-1 win against Dundee with the Australian’s match cut short after he was brought down in a sliding tackle.

Rogic was taken out by Darren O’Dea and the Socceroos midfielder was replaced in the 46th minute of the Scottish Premiership clash.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers told media Rogic has an ankle injury but it was too early to make a call on how bad it is.

“We’ll assess tomorrow at training,” Rodgers said.

Former Celtic defender O’Dea, who received a yellow card, copped a backlash on Twitter over the challenge on Rogic.

The fans’ reactions prompted O’Dea to respond and remind people he knows Rogic, who has battled ankle problems.

“I was with him through part of his rehab. He’s worked so hard to get playing and become a top player. I’d never try to harm that. #Rogic,” O’Dea tweeted.

The win maintained Celtic’s unbeaten start to the competition.

Leigh Griffiths’ 11th goal of the season was added to by Nir Bitton’s second-half strike as the Hoops secured an 11th consecutive league win to take them 11 points clear of Old Firm rivals Rangers, who have played two games more, at the top of the table.

Dundee ended a five-match goal drought against Celtic in the league when Marcus Haber halved the deficit with 21 minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, third-placed Aberdeen missed the chance to close the gap on Rangers following a 2-1 defeat at Ross County.

Ian Cathro is yet to taste victory as Hearts head coach following a 1-1 draw with Partick Thistle at Tynecastle.

Gary Warren headed in a late equaliser to secure Inverness a 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock.

Motherwell are without a win at St Johnstone since 2012 after a 1-1 draw at McDiarmid Park.
