Adelaide United coach Guillermo Amor is demanding more from his players after their stirring draw against Korea’s Jeju United.
The Reds twice came from behind on Wednesday night in Adelaide, in a 3-3 draw – banking their first Asian Champions League point in the process.
But while full of praise for the character of his side, Amor now wants more.
“The result is one point – we need more points,” he said.
Adelaide remarkably twice equalised within a minute of the Koreans scoring, in a match which unexpectedly caught fire – after a scoreless opening half, the six goals came in a frenzied 34-minute span.
Amor said the Reds could take great heart from their fightbacks.
“The players, it’s true that they play and work very well,” he said.
“This is football … in the moment of 1-2, and 2-3, it was difficult.”
The Reds were advantaged by a nine-day rest entering the fixture – the Koreans played in their domestic league last Saturday before travelling to Australia.
Adelaide, now with a draw and two losses in the Asian tournament, now turn their attention to the A-League where they are anchored in last spot ahead of Sunday’s home match against Brisbane.

Adelaide is a good team, I think that sometimes they are a little unlucky. The best that Adelaide can do is to keep the coaches and unload some players that are not up to it. Rebuild the team not with future prospects or discarded players from other A league clubs, but get some experienced players instead. They do not have to be necessarily from the senior leagues, get them from second division in Europe, get them from second division in the South American competitions but not players that have been discarded from other A league clubs. The club itself needs to realise that they must invest in the business if they want to succeed, the team manager is a good coach but not a magician, you give him a group of players that lack what it takes to succeed in the league and you get the results you are getting, spend some more money and you will improve

Fair enough,but sometimes there is no capacity to introduce topics that IMO are more important than the usual rehashed topics. Showing HAL and other football matches on Cable would make money from football for football but they (NPL etc) seem reluctant to embrace any form of expansion or wider engagement.

Got waylaid as my wife did her ankle dog walking so had to go to Foxtel outlet later on. From past experience Port AFL club is closest and most reliable. Would much rather give my beer money to a'football' club but with this clamour for two divisions and relegation etc, one is reminded that many of those bagging the FFA and calling for revolution are very small clubs who have made no real attempt to broaden their own horizons in their own patch such as decent facilities and trying to attract the broader community for financial gain and growing their fan base. The old NSL worked on a keep it small mantra, that isn't a model for the 21st century.
