Match preview:

Easter Saturday sees the Kings travelling to Brisbane to play the Reds. Join The Roar from 3.05pm (AEST) for live scores and coverage as we cover this Round 8 match.

Both sides are coming off losses heading into today’s clash. The Reds lost heavily on the road to the Brumbies while the Kings were pipped at the post in a thrilling try scoring bonanza against the Force in Perth.

The Reds will be looking to get their season back on track, especially after a disappointing second half against the Brumbies while the Kings will no doubt want to continue with their attacking verve displayed last weekend.

The Reds have named a strong looking line-up, in particular the return of Quade Cooper at first five will have many fans breathing a sigh of relief. It has looked a problem position for the Queenslanders while Karmichael Hunt returning at fullback will provide more stability.

While the odds indicate the Reds should do this comfortably, the Kings will provide stern opposition with their in-form first five Lionel Cronje leading the charge. He will be looking to unleash the serious pace that the Kings possess out wide and dangerous counter attack so the Reds kicking game will need to be executed efficiently.

The main match-up to look out for will be Cooper and Cronje – the two first fives have plenty of skill to demonstrate and fans will be hoping we get to see their full arrays of talent today.

Prediction
The Reds will have too much firepower across the park for this Kings side, particularly up front and off the bench.

Reds by 20.

Yes, the key being slacked off, very slack. Especially against the equal worst side in the comp.

They racked up nearly 50 points then slackened off. It happens.

Seems the whole side decided to stop tackling in the last 15 mins, the Kings just walking them in it seemed. Odd match.

I agree Hammertime - Coopers low tackling highlights reel would only be slightly longer than Michael Hooper's ruck involvents reel. The best cracking under pressure reel has to go to King Kurtley though - he has made Cooper look good when comparing Bledisloe encounters

Thanks for the call DC. Around this time, is where I hope Stiles is realising some of his blue eyed boys from Brisbane City team cant make it to SR. I wonder if he realises the same for some of his assist coaches

I could rant for hours. But Sufferini ce to say that if the ARU focused on being truly competitive firctakent they'd be focused on schools and clubs. I don't mean just giving money. I mean quality management at each level. The collapse of club rugby and the dominance of "recruiter"clubs is a disaster. The lack of support for school rugby is tragic. I suspect the real problem is the wanker brigade that all went to school together. NSWRU and QRU are troglodyte and need a good rogering. One reason many of us loved the brumbies, who showed what the real talent pool looked like. I suspect Clyne is the right bloke to lead. I doubt that pulver is part of the solution.

I'll admit that Cooper can set up a try but I would love to see a montage of his career great tackles around the legs. It would last 10 seconds. On another note.. caught up with a RL CEO during the week who thought that Bernard Foley is the best potential league player in Australia which I found interesting. It got me thinking. Isn't it about time we started poaching back again? And i understand the thinking of not intermixing...but league steals union players all the time..just earlier.

Kings are a vastly improved team from last season . They have just got in a new CEO who is absolutely the right person to move this team forward , but where too for them next year ??? You just have to feel for the players and coaching staff.

Any stats on Samu K's tackle completions? He's an amazing player but missed a few today! Smith and Hunt were brilliant.

Reds Positives - Bit of fluency and confidence, some nice tries and confidence boosting. Karmichael Hunt. A dominant scrum. Strong debut by Mafi and some good progress by Tuttle (though he tired badly) and Lukhan Tui. Reds Negatives - Kervei actually had a bit of a shocker in both defence and attack. Too much loose passing by him and other in the first half. Ready - clearly not as fit as he should be, poor lineout throwing. Poor ball retention overall. MOM George Smith. Good to win for once (well second) but a lot to improve on , still too many errors.
