Brisbane have announced John Aloisi has signed a three-year contract to stay on as coach of the A-League club.
The extension, announced on Saturday night at the Roar’s annual awards dinner, means Aloisi will remain coach until the end of the 2019-20 season.
Aloisi has taken Brisbane to the A-League semi-finals twice in his two seasons at the club.
Meanwhile, Roar defender Corey Brown has taken out the club’s highest individual honour, the Gary Wilkins Medal.
The 23-year-old was previously a bit-part player but took over as the A-League team’s first-choice left-back this season, after the retirement of Shane Stefanutto.
Brown made 25 starts and was one of Brisbane’s most-consistent players.
He joins an illustrious list of Gary Wilkins Medal winners, including captain Matt McKay and departing club icon Thomas Broich.
“Well done to Corey who had a fantastic season,” Aloisi said.
“We are proud of his development as a footballer and a leader amongst our group.”
Brown is the first defender to win the award since Luke DeVere in 2010.
Joint A-League golden boot Jamie Maclaren was named Roar players’ player of the year, while star midfielder Katrina Gorry won the club’s top W-League award.
Broich was recognised for his contribution to the Roar and the A-League over seven seasons by becoming the inaugural inductee into Brisbane’s Hall of Fame.
“Thomas is a club legend, a wonderful footballer who has helped build a successful culture within our club,” Aloisi said.
“Words cannot describe the influence he has had on all of us.”

2 years in row finishing at 3rd spot and seimifinals appearances - one cannot complain. I do think though that if we are to go higher, Roar must improve on 2 things: 1. away matches and rely less on the 'caldron' factor, and 2. be able to play against teams that press hard. Not sure if JA has the tools to to solve these but we'll have to see.

I am happy with the appointment. We have the basis of a very good squad and it needs only a couple of good signings to make it a team with premiership / championship winning credentials. The crop of youngsters coming through is second to none and we'll hopefully see a lot more of them next season. Keep up the good work John and your team. The administration also seems to have things under control and everything points to bigger and better things. I agree with Waz, that if we can start pre-season training with full and fit squad we will have won half the battle. Go Roar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I'm happy enough. Although I don't think he'll see out the three years though he'll either end up in the employ of the ffa or in Spain He's been good for Roar and has designed the club a football department that is second to none in the A league. He deserves credit for the youth that has come through this season as that was all his doing - he turfed almost an entire years talent when he first arrived (a brave and unpopular move) and 2 years later we have both youngsters breaking into the team and other 5-6 likely to do so next year also. He still has to get the first team fully functional though. But if he gets his first winter where he can sign the players he needs and can start preseason with a full squad without any "make-do" players in there we'll see what he can do next year.
