Gold Coast Suns midfielder Michael Barlow has sustained a horrific leg injury with just ten minutes left of his side’s clash with the Carlton Blues.

Barlow appeared to be on the receiving end of an accidental knock from Bryce Gibbs during a tackle, with the Blues midfielder’s knee inadvertently collecting the former Docker in the back of the leg.

Barlow remained lying on the ground for several minutes, and required the assistance of a stretcher to leave the field. He was immediately given pain relief for the injury.

It was later revealed the Sun had indeed broken the very same leg that he did in 2010.

The injury comes after Barlow has made a strong start to his second life as an AFL footballer, having crossed over to the competition’s second-youngest team in the offseason, after being delisted by Fremantle at the end of 2016.

The Suns would go on to lose by ten points.
