Adelaide United have scrapped together a 1-0 win over the Newcastle Jets tonight in the FFA Cup, a low scoring encounter enough to send the South Australian outfit through to the next round.

Michael Marrone scored a brilliant header for the lone goal of the game.

The first half was without much excitement. Despite two goalpost hits, neither side created many chances.

The second half wasn’t much better as less chances were created compared to the first, however, in the 64th minute Marrone’s powerful header gave Adelaide a win that neither team truly deserved.

Adelaide the winners here this evening, advancing further in the FFA Cup.
