Port Adelaide are set to land another big-name AFL recruit, with Geelong goalsneak Steven Motlop nominating them as his new home.

The Power on Friday confirmed they had lodged paperwork with the AFL, having reportedly offered the restricted free agent a four-year deal.

Geelong have three days to decide whether to match the Power’s offer but are considered unlikely to do so.

Port edged out cross-town rivals Adelaide in the race to lure the 26-year-old, who played 135 games for the Cats across eight seasons.

The Power have been active players during the first week of the trade period, signing former Brisbane skipper Tom Rockliff as a free agent, while offloading Jarman Impey to Hawthorn and Jackson Trengove to the Western Bulldogs.

Port have also been linked to Melbourne forward Jack Watts, who is under contract but has been encouraged to consider his options.
