Essendon have ticked another name off their AFL trade wishlist, nabbing Gold Coast speedster Adam Saad in exchange for a future second-round draft pick.
The 23-year-old running defender had requested a trade back to his native Victoria to be closer to his family.
Essendon will now turn their attention to securing a deal for Western Bulldogs forward Jake Stringer, having earlier given up their first-round draft pick to Greater Western Sydney for small forward Devon Smith.

If a deal isn't done that will be a disaster for Stringer and the Bulldogs. Forget Stringer's personal life, the important thing is that he is professional when it comes to his football, if he can't achieve that his football career will be a short one. Plenty of upside and limited downside.

A terrible kick, too. Turn over merchant! No probs for the Tiges.

Great work Bombers in prioritising! Devon Smith is a gun and Saad is a great rebound defender. But not sure if Stringer is needed as badly - Danaher, Hooker and Stewart are all doing okay and are likely to improve playing as a unit next year. Add to that Stringer's personal life... let's just say if a deal can't be done it's unlikely to be heartbreaking for the red and black.

Great pick-up for the Bombers. Saad is extra fast and an extra long kick: the perfect antidote for the Richmond forward press.
