Ben Simmons is set to make his NBA debut for the Philadelphia 76ers in their opening game of the 2017-18 season against the Washington Wizards. Tip-off is scheduled for 10am (AEDT) on Thursday, October 19.

The 76ers, who have been in a rebuilding phase for a number of seasons, finally look ready to work their way off the bottom of the NBA ladder in 2017-18, and the Australian will have a fair bit to do with that.

He was taken with the No.1 pick in last year’s draft, but unfortunately never made it onto the court after he suffered a severe leg injury before the season began.
