It’s official: the 2017 Melbourne Cup has finished and the results are in. Find out who finished fourth so you can find out if you’re betting slip is a winner.

As always, it was an exciting race. Rekindling finished first with Johannes Vermeer and Max Dynamite taking second and third respectively, but it was Big Duke who crossed the line to finish fourth.

It’s a disappointing result for any punters who had Big Duke down for a win, place or each-way. For anyone with bets on the first four, this could make or break the result.

Given Big Duke’s pre-race odds of $21 for the win and $6 for a place, there are sure to be plenty of punters feeling gutted at the result.

First: Rekindling
Second: Johannes Vermeer
Third: Max Dynamite
Fourth: Big Duke

The finishing order tells the tale in full.

Big Duke’s ownership team will pocket $250,000 for the result.
