An out-of-form Adelaide host a newborn Jets side this Saturday as the Reds and Newcastle both look to cement a high spot in the A-League Ladder.

Out of their past two games, Adelaide have struggled offensively scoring a grand total of zero goals against Perth and Melbourne City.

Key forward Isaias along with new attacking midfielder Daniel Adlung started the season well, however even they have struggled in the past few games as Adelaide continue their lack of form from last season.

The Reds have improved though, playing more offensive football than last and competing more frequently and often than past seasons. Their problem however seems to stem from a lack of quality in front of goal.

Despite their new signings and plethora of experience, none of them have really excelled in the A-League over the last season, and they lack a talisman in front of goal like Besart Berisha.

Additionally, their defence is very inconsistent playing well and compact one game to conceding preventable goals the next. Adelaide need consistency in both fronts if they are to really improve.

The Jets themselves however have finally found a rhythm that their fans and the city have been craving. The likes of Roy O’Donovan and Dimitri Petratos have been excellent so far this season not to mention Boogaard and Topor-Stanley.

Their attack has been much better this season as they find themselves to be favourites entering games instead of vast underdogs. Topor-Stanley has been a marvel in defence as Newcastle have shown tremendous improvement over the last few games.

Roy O’Donnovan has also seen to be the attacking spearhead that the Jets desperately lacked the last few seasons. Their attack, midfield and defense have significantly improved, however they aren’t exactly unbeatable.

The Jets still are yet to show their full potential, and due to the lack of their success in recent seasons, it’s reasonable to assume and be skeptical of how far they can go, and whether this is simply a period of good form.
