Match preview:

Round 2 of the NRL season continues this Sunday afternoon as the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles take on the Parramatta Eels at Lottoland. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 4:10pm AEDT.

These long terms rivals have plenty to play for this round after both suffered first-round losses last weekend. The Sea Eagles had their chances up in Newcastle before Mitchell Pearce kicked the field goal in golden point to kickstart the Knights season.

Parramatta gave up a 14-0 lead over Penrith to eventually go down, with the Eels seemingly running on empty towards the end of the game in a hot afternoon at the foot of the mountains.

Manly have made a few changes to their team, with local junior Brad Parker replacing Matthew Wright in the centres while Jackson Hastings and Lloyd Perritt come into their 17 replacing Lewis Brown and Frank Winterstein respectively.

The Sea Eagles were strong in patches against the Knights with the Trbojevic brothers, Daly Cherry-Evans, Jorge Taufua and Martin Taupau all having strong games. However, they will need to tighten up their defence, missing 41 tackles against Newcastle.

Coach Brad Arthur has gone for an unchanged line up for the Eels. They started really well last weekend racing out to a 14-0 lead early.

A combination of a lack of discipline, and perhaps a lack of focus, allowed the Panthers to get back in the game in front of a large home crowds and the Eels couldn’t find the answers. Their middle defence in the back half of the game will need to improve.

Prediction
In recent times, Parramatta has had the edge on Manly and I expect that trend to continue. If Parramatta can match Manly in the forwards, their halves combination and backline should have a bit too much class

Parramatta by 8.
