There's plenty of racing to be had this weekend. (AAP Image/David Moir)

Group l racing returned to Rosehill on Saturday where we saw a crack bunch of fillies and mares do battle in the 1500 metres Coolmore Classic along with the big guns doing their thing in the final Slipper lead-ups.

Race 1: Catanach’s Handicap (82) 1900 metres
All Too Soon is probably not quite at the level of Luvaluva, Aloisia and co, but she looks a definite stayer, and this run confirmed it. She really had no hope the way the race was run, but she still did a great job to get as close as she did, clocking sub-34 for the final 600 metres, clearly the fastest of the race.

Race 2: Harrolds Sky High Stakes 2000 metres
I think there are a couple here that could be followed. Salsamor did a really good job against the older horses, clocking the second fastest final 600 metres of the race behind Auvray. He will eat up further. The other was the old boy, Who Shot Thebarman. He was on the worst part of the track but hit the line and ran through it with purpose. That’s two good runs back from him now.

Race 6: Chandon S Pharlap Stakes 1500 metres
I’ll include Unforgotten but not as beamingly as some. To the eye it was an outstanding win. She got back, peeled out and rattled home to win in sub 34. But she was put to sleep out the back, so she had every right to finish off like she did. What did she beat? To my eye not much. She was impressive, but I’m very wary of this form.

Race 7: Coolmore Classic 1500 metres
I still think Nettoyer will be the one for the Epona, but I’ll be terrified if Aide Memoire backs up. She ran an enormous race in the Coolmore and got fired up in the mounting yard. She definitely spent petrol tickets there. She looked to travel well in the run, and in the straight she cut back to the rail, which wasn’t the place to be, though still ran good late splits. If she was to back up next week, she’d take some beating.

Horses to forget
Zourkhan: Milk drinker who looked the winner but didn’t finish off.
Stampede: Was his D-Day and ha failed to my eye after a soft lead.
Nieta: She doesn’t like working for a win. Things have to fall into place.

Horses to forgive
Prized Icon: 1600 back to 1500 never an ideal set up with the weight. Back up in trip, he can run well again.
