The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre will host the second day of the swimming heats at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Join The Roar for live updates and a blog of the heats, starting from 10:30am (AEST).

Australia has relied heavily on the swimmers to perform at the Commonwealth Games over the years to deliver medals, and it will be no different this time around.

The Australian swimmers reeled in 57 medals at Glasgow in 2014, and these heats will be crucial in looking to better that tally.

There are a number of Aussies competing on day two, with Kyle Chambers kicking things off in the Men’s 200-metres freestyle. Mack Horton will also feature in the same event, but the heat after Chambers as the pair fight for qualification for a chance at a medal.

Emily Seebohm will compete in the women’s 100-metre backstroke looking to extend her dominance by winning her third-straight Commonwealth backstroke title after taking the top gong in Delhi and Glasgow.

Both events will have their fair share of challengers to the medals, and there’s plenty of other events on today.

The heats for Day 2 at the pool today are the following:

Men’s 100m Breaststroke heats
Men’s S9 100m Freestyle heats (para-sports event)
Men’s 200m Freestyle heats
Men’s 400m Individual Medley heats
Men’s 4x100m Freestyle relay heats
Women’s S9 100m Backstroke
Women’s 100m Backstroke heats
